A man, who is yet to be identified, shot himself dead after firing gunshots at the Chinese Consulate-General in LA's Filipinotown at 6:00 a.m. local time Tuesday.
The man fired 18 shots outside the building but there are no reports of any injuries.
Chinese Consulate-General in LA later issued a statement confirming the incident. It urged the US police to take measures to ensure the safety of the Consulate and its staff, and also requested a probe into the shooting.
The Los Angels police has stepped in and further investigation is underway.
